Portable AC
A portable air conditioner keeps the compressor indoors and rejects heat through an exhaust hose. It can avoid permanent installation, but needs a compatible window or approved vent path.
Compare verified BTU capacity, DOE seasonally adjusted cooling capacity where available, rated input, sound and the included window kit.
Mini-split
A mini-split places the compressor outdoors and can provide quieter room operation, zoning and heat-pump heating.
The project includes load calculation, indoor and outdoor unit placement, refrigerant lines, condensate, electrical work, permits and commissioning.
Choose by use case
Portable equipment can fit occasional one-room cooling or rental constraints. A mini-split can fit regular heating and cooling where permanent work is acceptable.
Compare three- to ten-year ownership cost rather than equipment prices alone.
