SYSTEM AGE CHECK

How old is your HVAC equipment?

Use the rating plate—not appearance—to screen a likely manufacture date. Because serial conventions change, every result shows its confidence and official verification route.

FIND THE RIGHT LABEL

Model, serial and installation date are different facts.

Outdoor AC and heat-pump rating plates are commonly near service connections. Furnace and air-handler labels are commonly inside or behind a service panel. Turn equipment off and follow manufacturer instructions before opening any removable panel.

  • Photograph the entire label before typing.
  • Keep indoor and outdoor serials separate.
  • A manufacture date does not prove installation date.
  • Warranty depends on registration, ownership, installation and the applicable certificate.
PRIMARY-SOURCE BOUNDARY

What this tool can—and cannot—confirm.

Carrier officially directs owners to the equipment rating plate and warranty lookup. Lennox publishes supported serial formats and a warranty lookup. Recent Trane recall records provide bounded examples of a year/week serial pattern. CoolCompare uses those sources conservatively and does not claim universal decoding.
