Heat must leave the room
A compressor air conditioner moves indoor heat to its condenser and must reject that heat outside. Leaving the exhaust hose in the room cannot create net room cooling.
A window is the most common route, but an approved door panel or dedicated vent may work when manufacturer instructions allow it.
Seal the opening
Use a correctly sized kit or removable panel, keep the hose within specified length and bend limits, and preserve window security.
Do not exhaust into an attic, crawlspace, wall cavity, garage or another occupied room.
Check electrical and drainage needs
Follow the nameplate and manual for receptacle, circuit and extension-cord restrictions.
Understand whether condensate is self-evaporated, collected or drained before selecting the installation location.
